TDP43 accumulation is an early sign of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, researchers find

Researchers in Japan have identified a novel diagnostic biomarker that may aid in the early detection of amyotrophic later sclerosis (ALS).

The biomarker, known as TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP43), has been previously implicated in neuronal death – an underlying cause of the progressive weakness and atrophy characteristic of ALS.
